World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all the upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller can be done using the item's level.
On PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its level. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. item upgrader can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.
However, this is not the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the region the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.
Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by adding a name.
Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges as with other rerolling methods.
Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items, the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than in later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Furthermore some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..
The Luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5%.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
